Preservation of Daymaniyat Islands – Guide on Eco-Friendly Diving In Oman
With the boost in marine tourism, diving in Muscat is one of those underwater activities in Oman which has been advancing on the radar of tourists visiting the country. Oman is home to diverse and well-preserved marine life which is unique to just the Omani waters. As the Daymaniyat Island is one of the most popular diving sites in Muscat – therefore, it faces the highest threat of being affected due to the effects of increasing tourism.
Daymaniyat Island is a nature reserve with plenty of diving sites in its vicinity. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in Oman regulates diving at Daymaniyat Islands in order to preserve its natural beauty and to prevent it from being negatively impacted by the growing diving in Muscat.
If you are planning for diving in Muscat and particularly at the Daymaniyat Islands – it is important to be mindful of preserving the nature reserve by taking the following measures.
Restrict The Plastic Use Near Ocean
Single-use plastic is the major threat imposed on the ocean. While diving in Muscat, we at MolaMola Diving Center always encourages our guests to refrain from the use of plastic and most importantly to dispose of any plastic trash in the water. As responsible divers, it is an ethical responsibility to collect the plastic waste found while diving at Daymaniyat Island and bring it back to the boat to dispose of it properly.
Maintain Safe Distance From The Corals
One of the common mistakes made by the divers is getting in close contact with the corals which is then resulted in unintentionally causing permanent damage to the corals. In order to preserve the nature reserve of Oman, during diving at the Daymaniyat Islands, we always recommend our guests to maintain a safe distance from the corals to avoid any accidental contact with them which might end up harming them.
Don’t Chase The Marine Life
Diving in Muscat is a truly exceptional experience as the dive at the Daymaniyat Island will give an opportunity to witness some of the most diverse and colorful marine life. Though it is normal to get excited when spotting a unique marine creature – as ethical divers, we advise our guests not to get too close with the marine animals or to chase them. Chasing them can result in stress and fear in the animals, which is something we don’t anticipate to occur while diving in Oman.
Take Memories, Leave Bubbles
We promise that your diving in Muscat experience will truly be a memorable one as the diving at Daymaniyat Island is different from any other diving sites in Oman. We at MolaMola Diving Center take pride in participating with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs in Oman to preserve the picturesque marine paradise of Daymaniyat Island. Moreover, we thrive to ensure that you leave with everlasting memories of diving in Oman and contributes towards the preservation of the most beautiful diving site in Oman, which is the Daymaniyat Island.
